The Gold ‘N Silver Inn – Reno’s Oldest Casual Dining Restaurant

Gold N Silver Inn

This lil ditty of a diner has been in business for over 50 years with only one day recorded as closed. We recently watched this lil diner  featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri.

Located in Reno, the staff bring home to your plate. The waitress only asks your name once and the old school style cooking brings your home cooking on vacation.

Steve and I couldn't help but ask the daunting question "Why did they close for the one day?" So I emailed the owner and to my surprise  I received an email today directly from owner Jeff Paine stating that they closed for one Christmas day and returned to vandalism so they never closed again!!!

Words from their website:

We’re a family place, literally.

The Gold ‘N Silver has been in owner Jeff Paine’s family since 1962.  And our family of wait staff, cooks, cashiers and bus people offer over 350 yrs of combined experience.  Many have been here for over 10 years, some for over 20, and some even 30 years!   Does it sound like we are claiming bragging rights?  Absolutely!!  Because when you come to the Gold ‘N Silver, you’re only a stranger once.  Better get used to the waitress knowing your name and your favorites.  We make you feel at home, while serving you satisfying comfort food all day everyday.            Like home, we never close.

Come as you are.

And no need to dress up.  Sure, you’ll find working stiffs all suited up, maybe even spot a few politicians, and even the mayor.  But you’ll also see regular folks, from construction workers, to teachers and coaches, to casino workers, to late night partiers to families with kids.Everybody fits in at the Gold ‘N Silver.
Locals here in Reno like to say that it’s easy to spot the newcomers. They still have their California license plates, and they have to ask for directions to the Gold ‘N Silver.
Our doors are always open and the coffee’s always fresh and hot, and served with a warm smile and kind heart.  We’re the Gold ‘N Silver.  Reno’s Oldest Casual Dining Restaurant.  A Reno Tradition Since 1956.
