I know, I know we are not a sports blog but words always need to be shared and we may even have a few ideas for your evening if you plan on watching the game at home. Tonight's game will make history no matter what the end result but if we take the Stanley Cup it will be a full on Celebration!!!
Downtown will be a blast but do be aware that the popo are everywhere and a no tolerance for alcohol or drugs is in place. They are checking bags, purses and pockets at almost every venue. Even vodka in water bottles is being dumped out onto the street and fines are been given. Their on to you! But have fun if that's where your headed tonight.
For those of you that hate crowds, drunks in public and want to avoid long line-ups we have some ideas for home tonight.
1. As mentioned before it is National Lobster Day and that could make for a nice feast with your favorite bevies. Fresh Lobster can be found at markets such as Granville Island, Steveston, Lonsdale Quay and Richmond Public Market. It is easy to come by...and DEEEE-LICIOUS! Steamed, boiled, baked, grilled are all easy to do yourself and recipes are found anywhere on the net. Pair with your favorite Chardonnay or a Light Pinot Noir and Boyz bring out the Molson Canadian!!

2. My favorite for games is Jack N Beer Burgers with home made Salsa. Making your own hamburgers is the only way we roll. You will need 2 lbs lean ground beef, 6-8 graham crackers crumbled, 1 egg, 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 cup chopped red onion, 1 oz bbq sauce, 2oz beer, and 2oz Jack Daniel's. Mix all the ingredients in large mixing bowl and make in to mid-large patties(they always shrink remember). Too add some heat we chop up banana peppers and jalapeños and add those to the mix. Grill on the BBQ to your liking!!!
N
'sHome made salsa is easy...you can chop all the ingredients and serve salsa chuncky or you can use your food processor or blender to mix a thinner salsa. You'll need 2 medium to large Tomato's, 1/2 cup of chopped red onion, tsp tomato paste, 3-6 garlic cloves, pinch of parsley, garlic and onion powder. We always add banana peppers and jalapeños for heat.
Serve with your favorite potato salad, green salad, roasted potatoes.....whatever suits your fancy.
3. Look online for decorating ideas or easy to items for party appeal!!

When the Stanley Cup playoffs come around, hockey fans can throw down and party as good or better than any football Super Bowl fans. While tips for Super Bowl parties abound, not as many menus are designed specifically for hockey fans. With a little creativity and lots of fun, you can make both the winners and losers of the big game feel at home at your Stanley Cup party.
- Difficulty:
- Easy
Instructions
- 1Set up your Stanley Cup party with a buffet-style line of food, so that people can get up during breaks or anytime and graze. Serve finger foods such as wings and veggies, chips and pizza, with small plates for numerous trips to the buffet. Many fans enjoy the commentator's banter, while others won't move during a period when their teams are on the ice. A buffet caters to all of them.
- 2Serve Canadian beer. Molsons or Labatts are popular choices of hockey fans. Since hockey began primarily as a Canadian game and many of the players are Canadian, even on American teams, this beverage choice will add a nice touch to your menu.
- 3Make dark chocolate cupcakes or thick cookies in the shape of a hockey puck. Serve plain or in paper cupcake holders.
- 4Find a chocolate fountain the shape of the Stanley Cup itself and your party will be the talk of the town for years to come. Most larger fountains do look like the coveted cup and by placing a small sign with directions on how to use the fountain for dipping, you can make sure everyone thinks of the Stanley Cup while they are dipping.
