Ode to Breast Awareness month!!

What a great subject to write about. Tits, boobies, breasts, tata's, knockers, fun bags, hammers, cannons, kuhonaz, gun show or what ever you call your favorite part of the female anatomy!

Whether your a man or woman you must appreciate the breast.....

October is Breast Cancer Awareness and even though the Cancer Society may not like our shout out, it's not about them...it's about the breast owners! The stats for breast cancer victims is on the rise and not slowing down...It' s time for education. If you exist there is a 100% chance you know someone with Breast Cancer or know someone who knows someone with breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
We're asking women 50-69, who are of average risk* for breast cancer, to fight back against the disease and join the Thingamaboob ‘Pass it on’movement by committing to get a mammogram every two years and to pass on the life-saving message that mammograms save lives!
The Canadian Cancer Society Thingamaboob has a funny name, but it delivers a serious message by showing hands-on how important mammograms are in detecting breast cancer early when it’s most treatable.
Made of pretty pink beads, the Thingamaboob shows the various sized lumps that can be detected through:

  • regular mammograms

  • a first mammogram

  • a physical exam by a healthcare professional

  • checking your breasts

  • Regular mammography is the method that finds the smallest lump, about the size of an apple seed, while the average size lump found by women checking their breasts is the approximate size of a cherry tomato. While not every lump is cancerous, a woman's risk of getting breast cancer increases after the age of 50.
To learn more about breast screening and the Thingamaboob 'Pass it on'movement, visit www.thingamaboob.ca.
*Most women are at average risk for breast cancer, which means that they have no risk factors other than simply being a woman and getting older (especially being 50+). If women are concerned that they may be at higher risk (e.g. they have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer), they should talk to their doctor.
Celebrating 20 years of breast screening in Ontario
The Canadian Cancer Society has partnered with the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) to celebrate 20 years of organized breast screening in Ontario.
To help pass on the life-saving message that mammograms save lives, the Society has provided Thingamaboobs at no cost to the OBSP, to be passed on to women who schedule an OBSP mammogram during the month of October**.
In Ontario, there are two ways of getting a mammogram when you're 50 or older. Women can either get a referral from their healthcare professional or contact the OBSP directly at 1 800 668-9304 or visitwww.cancercare.on.ca/obsplocations to find the nearest OBSP site in order to make an appointment.

**The Thingamaboobs will be available at OBSP sites on a limited, while supplies last basis.
